New year, new kitchen trends. While minimalism and rose gold appliances were huge for 2018, the new year is bringing in a few unique suggestions for the heart of the home. If you're planning a kitchen reno--or just need to get inspired--you need to understand what designers are doing for 2019. We spoke with a few of our trusted resources to listen to what they're seeing--and installingthis season.
"I love the swing toward daring colored cabinetry rather than the anticipated white," designer Danielle Rollins informs House Beautiful. "It really provides a kitchen a personality and finish. "Denise McGaha agrees, stating she's using color on walls, cabinets, and even appliances (such as a plum-colored LaCanche range she's now installing for one lucky client). Need a push? 2. Minty Fresh
Even more especially, designers say mint green is the color du jour. Everybody appears to need light green cabinetry," says Jennifer Beek Hunter, demonstrating this kitchen by Young Huh from 2012 is still piled in style.
3. Natural Stone
To balance out all that color, incorporate natural components. According to Los Angeles-based Natalie Meyers,"people are falling in love with all the abstract canvases painted by Mother Nature and using natural stone beyond countertops. Designers are continuing the stone material to waterfall edges and tall backsplashes." Occasionally they take the stone all the way to the ceiling, and you can even create drawer fronts and hood vent covers from pure stone.
4. Matte Black Everything
Meanwhile, as cupboards are becoming bolder, some appliances are taking another sort of remarkable turn. "Matte black fittings and hardware are increasing in popularity," Meyers says. "What was a minimal and stark option in all white modern kitchens is now an enjoyable approach to subtly add comparison to wood cabinets and more traditional, Shaker-style kitchens."
5. High Tech
One fashion designer Niki Papadopoulos doesn't see going anywhere is"technology effortlessly incorporated into appliances," she says. The perfect example? Samsung's Family Hub refrigerator, which features a touchscreen display, inside cameras, and WiFi connectivity, so you can search recipes in the refrigerator, see what's inside while you're shopping, and leave reminders and notes to family members. Doesn't get much smarter than that.
