New year, new kitchen tendencies. While minimalism and increased gold appliances were huge for 2018, the new year is bringing in a couple of unique ideas for the heart of the home. If you're planning a kitchen reno--or only need to get inspired--you will need to know what designers are doing for 2019. We talked with some of our trusted sources to listen to what they are seeinginstalling and -- --this season.

1. White Cabinets Are Over
"I love the swing toward daring colored cabinetry rather than the expected white," designer Danielle Rollins informs House Beautiful. "It really gives a kitchen a character and finish. "Denise McGaha agrees, saying she's using color on cabinets, walls, and even appliances (like a plum-colored LaCanche range she's now installing for one lucky client). Need a push? What is this cabinet by Jim Dove for inspiration?

2. Minty Fresh
Even more specifically, designers say mint green is the color du jour. "Everyone appears to need light green cabinetry," says Jennifer Beek Hunter, demonstrating this kitchen by Young Huh from 2012 is still piled in style.

3. Natural Stone
To balance out all this color, incorporate natural elements. In accordance with Los Angeles-based Natalie Meyers,"individuals are falling in love with all the subjective canvases painted by Mother Nature and using natural stone beyond countertops. Designers are continuing the stone material to waterfall edges and tall backsplashes." Sometimes they carry the stone all the way into the ceiling, and you can also fabricate drawer fronts and hood vent covers out of pure stone.

4. Matte Black Everything

Meanwhile, as cabinets are becoming bolder, some appliances are carrying another sort of dramatic turn. "Matte black fixtures and hardware are growing in popularity," Meyers says. "What was once a minimal and stark option in all white modern kitchens is presently an enjoyable way to subtly add contrast to wood cabinets and more traditional, Shaker-style kitchens."

5. High Tech
One fashion designer Niki Papadopoulos doesn't see going anywhere is"technology effortlessly incorporated into appliances," she says. The perfect example? Samsung's Family Hub fridge, which includes a touch screen, interior cameras, and WiFi connectivity, so you can search recipes in the fridge, see what's inside while you're searching, and leave reminders and notes to family members. Does not get much smarter than that.
