New year, new kitchen trends. While minimalism and increased gold appliances were enormous for 2018, the new year is bringing in a few unique ideas for the heart of the home. If you're arranging a kitchen reno--or only want to get inspired--you need to know what designers do for 2019. We talked with a few of our trusted resources to listen to what they are seeing--and installingthis year.

1. White Cabinets Are Over
"I really like the swing toward daring colored cabinetry instead of the anticipated white," designer Danielle Rollins informs House Beautiful. "It really provides a kitchen a character and finish. "Denise McGaha agrees, saying she is using color on cabinets, walls, and even appliances (such as a plum-colored LaCanche range she is currently installing for one lucky client). Need a drive? How's this cabinet by Jim Dove for inspiration

2. Minty Fresh
Even more specifically, designers state mint green is the color du jour. Everybody appears to want light green cabinetry," says Jennifer Beek Hunter, demonstrating this kitchen by Young Huh from 2012 is still piled in style.

3. Natural Stone
To balance out all that color, incorporate natural elements. According to Los Angeles-based Natalie Meyers,"individuals are falling in love with the subjective canvases painted by Mother Nature and utilizing natural stone beyond countertops. Designers are ongoing the stone material to waterfall tall and edges backsplashes." Occasionally they take the stone all the way into the ceiling, and you can even fabricate drawer fronts and hood vent covers out of pure stone.

4. Matte Black Everything

Meanwhile, as cabinets are becoming warmer, some appliances are carrying another sort of dramatic turn. "Matte black fittings and hardware are increasing in popularity," Meyers says. "What was a minimal and stark option in white modern kitchens is now a fun way to subtly add contrast to wood cabinets and more conventional, Shaker-style kitchens"

5. High Tech
1 fashion designer Niki Papadopoulos doesn't see going anywhere is"tech effortlessly incorporated into appliances," she says. The perfect example? Samsung's Family Hub fridge, which features a touch screen, inside cameras, and WiFi connectivity, which means you can search recipes from the refrigerator, see what's inside as you're searching, and leave notes and reminders to family members. Doesn't get much brighter than that.
